GARRY GRUBB
Anatomical & Molecular Pathologist


Dr Garry Grubb graduated MBChB at the University of Otago in New Zealand in 1988. During study towards his medical degree, he completed a BMedSc, examining the infrastructure of pancreatic islets in genetically diabetic mice. After two years residency in New Zealand, he was granted a Sargood Fellowship by the New Zealand Cancer Society, for study towards a PhD in Pathology, examining aspects of the molecular biology of Wilms Tumour. A PhD was awarded for the thesis in 1995.

After migrating to Australia, Garry commenced training in anatomical pathology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute in Melbourne. He continued his training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and was awarded his FRCPA in 2000. He has since worked as an anatomical pathologist at Melbourne Pathology and at Melbourne Health, including the Royal Melbourne, Western, and Sunshine Hospitals. In addition to his duties as anatomical pathologist, he was Medical Director of Cytogenetics at Melbourne Pathology. During his time at Melbourne Health, he was the molecular pathologist for the mutation detection laboratory at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Garry joined Gippsland Pathology in July 2004. His major interests include molecular pathology, gynaecological pathology and fine needle aspiration cytology.
