AUTOFAX

OVERVIEW

The automatic faxed report software allows the faxing of reports following the same format as a normal printed report. That is, an electronic image of the laboratory's report paper is merged with the normal report printing and delivery to the fax as through a real paper report had been faxed.

A flag is set in each doctor's file which indicates :

  • ¨ No fax required - printed reports only
  • ¨ Fax plus printed report
  • ¨ Faxed reports only - no printed copy

Output is automatic and not connected to the urgent fax/phone manager software.

Faxes are batched for each Doctor so only one telephone call is necessary.

When a fax number is busy, the fax manager goes on sending the remaining queued faxed and the "busy" fax is returned to the queue for retry at the first opportunity.

An error log for immediate operator action is maintained for failed faxes.

An unlimited user-log is kept of all faxes which have been sent.

DURING REQUEST ENTRY

Using the Phone/Fax Manager - from anywhere in Request Entry allows the operator to add a message to the phone log that includes the fax number and the procedures that are to be faxed. The operator is able to mark specific procedures to fax - the default is all.

This feature also writes fax entries to the Fax Batch. These fax entries will be printed at any batch report time, when work has been completed.

DURING RESULT ENTRY

Ad hoc faxes are available from result entry and enquiry. Doctor based fax numbers are used as a default. Immediate edits are available for these fax numbers.

An audit report is available for all faxes sent and the result.
